What started out as a simple acoustic tune evolved into a beautiful ballad that reminds me of a movie score. I like when those kind of surprises happen and a song shows you what it wants during the recording and producing process!
I don't have the best chops nor the best equipment but after 30 years of writing and recording hundreds of songs I took a few months to craft what some have said is my best work yet. Being a one man record company all these years with little to no financial reward is daunting, exhausting and sometimes I try to give it up but this is what I do and love to do.
So many changes happened in the time this developed. I'm sure you can relate as the lyrics pretty much tell the story ... its always somethin'....
lyrics
ALWAYS SOMETHING
Always something , not the same
No one really likes to change
Always something , that’s the game of life
Just when you had the perfect plan
slips like water through your hand
Always something to understand today
(Mountain Flower, desert snow, thought I’d see you again
I’m riding on to hear that song in the wind)
Always something, wait awhile
Turn the corner , walk a mile
Quivering lips will turn to smiles again
Old confusions washed away
Dying in the light of day
Always something I forgot to say to you
(Refrain)
Always something on my mind
Burns like lovin in the summer time
Always something hits me blind
Plant a seed and watch it grow
Taste the fruit and then you know
Lovers come and Lovers go away
(Refrain)
Breathing in , breathing out
Leave no room in the mind for doubt
That’s what natures all about
Always something on my lips
Travels down to my fingertips
Sing a song and then it slips away
( Mountain flower, desert snow, thought I’d see you again
I’m riding on to here that song in the wind
Desert flower, mountain snow, thought I’d see you again
I’m riding now to hear that song in the wind )
