SONG OF THE RIVERMAN

by Bruce Allen Oatway

/

about

My version of an old Buddist story: A woman who has just lost her son goes to Buddha and asks to please bring him back from the dead.
The Buddha says, "I'd be glad to do that. Bring me a handful of rice from a household that hasn't suffered"
The woman is pleased and figures "O this will be easy" So she searches house after house and finally exhausted she goes back to the Buddha and say " Now I understand"

lyrics

SONG OF THE RIVERMAN

Show me someone who hasn’t shed a tear
Bring me a broken heart from someone who doesn’t care
And I’ll show you a river that doesn’t go nowhere

California dreaming with redwood skies so clear
Find me one feather that hasn’t felt the air
And I’ll show you a river that doesn’t go nowhere

There’s no one here that’s never felt alone
But inside your heart’s a song to sing you home

Long ago you took a breath and with a breath you disappear
Bring me one flower where it’s always spring somewhere
And I’ll show you a river that rides you everywhere
I’ll show you a river that rides you everywhere
